Tell us about your program
is frontier in providing news, videos and photos of celebrity philanthropy, nonprofit organizations and causes that directly correlate with the black community. It is our goal to enrich the lives of others through good news on black celebrity philanthropy, nonprofits, causes, grants and inform people on issues affecting the black community including: spotlights of black and missing people, available grants and tips on giving back. On this site readers will enjoy uniquely-uncommon positive content that will inspire social change and feature the most up-to-date news on Black Philanthropy. In the community we lead a grassroots movement bridging the gap of giving our communities through cause campaigns and giving initiatives.
What inspired you to get started?: The idea for the site came from the vivid awareness of a lack of media coverage for positive things taking shape to impact our communities. We wanted to be not only about celebrities but also nonprofit organizations and causes that directly correlate with the black community. I wanted to inspire social change and celebrate the good things that happen everyday.
Who/What helped prepare you to start? Starting BCG was a solo effort but I had plenty of friends and my parents and sister who supported me. I also have to say God got me through as there were so many people who doubted it could be a success that at times I doubted myself too.
Who/what has been most influential in supporting you? Truly there have been so many amazing people who have supported BCG. I would say our volunteers have been the most influential, their support means so much to me as I know I could never do it all by myself.
How can others get involved if they're interested? Visit us online at BlackCelebrityGiving.com and follow us on Twitter and Instagram @BlkCelebGiving to learn more about our initiatives and join us, we are always collecting items for a variety of causes and hosting events in which we need volunteers so please stay in the loop and join us along the way.
If you had one word of advice for other women wanting to make an impact what would it be? We all have 86,400 seconds every day, what we do with them is our choice. And if we choose to dedicate any moment of our days to the service of others, I'm almost certain that what we give will come back to us. I love this quote: "Life is a game, play it; Life is a challenge, Meet it; Life is an opportunity, Capture it." ~ Unknown
